We are starting a local Flesh and Blood community, and I need your help!
Four months ago, I looked into the game again after being out for a while, and asked about Silver Age. Recently, the owner of LGS I frequent asked me if I'd be interested if he added Flesh and Blood products to the store. Since FaB is the best card game I've played to date, and I've been itching to have a small and active community around it, I naturally instantly said yes. So we decided to try to start a local Flesh and Blood community which wouldn't be just two people like it used to be, and I need your help.
Format of choice & products to get
Since our strongest constructed format for Magic for some time now locally has been Pauper, our format of choice for Flesh and Blood would be Silver Age. It seems like the most accessible option. We talked about getting all Silver Age precon decks, the 10 currently available, and 5 yet to be released. I'd buy one of each so I can lend them for free to anybody who is interested to learn how to play or to participate in a local tournament. I wouldn't change any cards in the precons so if somebody decides they like the deck, they can just buy the sealed deck in the store.
What sets should he get, what would complement the decks? Compendium of Rathe seems like an obvious choice to get since it came out most recently, as well as Omens of the Third Age since it's to be released soon. Any other sets? What about supplementary products, is there anything else we should keep an eye on? Does the Legend Story Studios send any stuff to game stores to support the local tournaments? I saw something about GEM packs, I guess the owner should contact LSS for those?
Judge program
Since I'd be the main person for the local tournaments, and he'd be the one to put the products on shelves and host the tournaments in his store, I'd have to learn the rules more properly. I found the comprehensive rules, which I'll be reading regularly, and also that there's a judge program. However, the "Links to get started" section on the Become a Judge page is empty. I know we don't really need a judge when just starting out, but I'd like to learn the game more in-depth to help with any questions players might have.
I've played many TCGs over the years, I am still active in Magic and Riftbound communities, however I was always a player, and never in tournament organization or a community starter. I've already started telling people about the game, some said they will check it out, some would like me to show them how to play once I get the decks. If you have any tips or links I should check out, I'd really appreciate it. 😄
