I’m trying to understand what’s going on with Preply because my experience over the past 2 weeks feels completely backwards.
First 10–12 days:
Brand new profile, no students, no reviews, getting 1–2 trial requests per day
Fast forward to now (day ~14):
4 subscribed students, 4 solid 5-star reviews with actually posted written positive feedback, actually gaining confidence and momentum
Total earned so far: $13 (yes… lol)
And now… nothing.
Literally 0 trial requests for the past 4 days.
What confuses me is this:
Shouldn’t it be the opposite?
You’d think once you:
-Prove you can teach
-Get good reviews
-Convert students
…the platform would show your profile MORE, not less. I get that new profiles get boosted. That part makes sense. But does that boost just completely disappear after 7–14 days?
Because right now it feels like:
I finally got traction and then visibility just dropped off a cliff
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is this just a normal dip?
Did your profile pick back up after a few days?
Or is this where you have to start manually messaging students to stay visible?
I’m not expecting instant success, but the timing is just brutal, right when things start working, it suddenly goes quiet. Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this phase.
