Just experimenting with my stock pickups to see if I can tweak the sound.

Anyone else tried a simple mod like this?

I'm currently building a "Banzai Caster" using the body from a Yamaha SJ-500.

The theme is inspired by the color scheme of Imperial Japanese Navy fighters from WWII (Zero fighter style). Dark green on top with yellow binding and a big red "rising sun" (hinomaru) on the lower bout. It ended up looking so much like it's doing a "banzai charge" that the name just stuck 😂

For the electronics, I wanted to change the tonal character and improve the balance, so I'm going with this all-active pickup configuration:

Neck position: EMG 58

Bridge position: Seymour Duncan Blackouts (neck model)

Both pickups are active. I'm really curious how this combination will sound.

Still a little more work left — mostly weathering the paint and final details.
