Thanks in advance! I have two beautiful oak trees in my yard I believe may have been planted when the house was built. One is thriving and the other is not. It looks worse this year (worsening thinning leaves, several long leafless ranches) than the 5 previous years I’ve owned the house. It was pruned last year by a local arborist here in my small town and it was cabled due to a “crotch”. A couple of questions:

- the jasmine and the hedge surrounding it, should I remove it (the tree bark is falling off and removing it will show full damage)

- I think this may have been from prior bad pruning or is this terminal disease

- if diseased is it so bad it should be cut down to avoid spreading to the other oak?

Don’t sugar coat it, just give it to me blunt
