So, I'm expanding my veggie garden and plan on reusing the previous garden area, which had been abandoned for a few years. It was partially covered with heavy-duty weed fabric. But weeds grew through it anyway, as well as in places without the weed fabric. My plan is to get a couple of inches of topsoil or compost for the area. The question I have is, should I till the area after adding topsoil / compost. This way, the plants can more easily access the nutrients as compared to if it's just sitting on top of the existing soil? My plan is to plant potatoes, onions, tomatoes and a few different kind of Sunflowers.
