I recently dug into Double Exposure then into Reunion. Before I proceed, I must emphasize that there will be some spoilers for Reunion, especially since I'm doing a bit of a redo for reasons I'll explain in a moment. So you have been warned.
So I'm currently playing through the scene where Max is trying to identify Safi. Basically the "Identify Safi Through Her Folder" objective. The reason why I'm replaying through this part is because before when I got up to the point where Chloe is potentially able to save Safi from killing herself, I didn't have a particular option that would essentially lead to Safi not killing herself. Basically, I did not have the option to choose the "Would YOU trust you right now?" and ahh yeah. I failed to keep her alive...
Throughout my playthrough I have sided with her and kept the secret of her presence away from her mother. There's just something missing in the puzzle so to speak that's keeping me from getting that particular option... I tried to look up the method of saving her online but admittedly it's a little unclear as to how. Aside from choosing the right options during that light House portion.
So, how on Earth do you save Safi?
Edit: I figured it out.
Being supportive of her in DE and in the beginning of the game helps immensely. Tell her about the fire when you two meet at the snapping turtle.
"Max loves you." "She told you about the fire." "You got lost in your powers" "She knows you can do better" (or "Moms can forgive a lot"). "Fine. Let's be b*stards" (or "We're also alive").
