Are the ray-tracing cores physically present on the Tensor G5?

I’ve heard that the DXT-48-1536 has ray-tracing capabilities, but Google disabled it. Does that mean they simply turned it off via firmware while the hardware still physically exists, or were the ray-tracing cores never included in the chip at all?
