I just brought home an Underwood Touchmaster Five and started to lean it by removing the case. Some of it is obvious but after removing a few bottom screws, it looked like the next thing to do was remove the carriage. I started that process but then it looked like the whole carriage, rails, etc. were not going to just lift off but were going to come apart in pieces. I stopped there and put it all back together. I don't want to do something that I can't recover from. Are there any resources that will help me strip this machine to bare bones for cleaning? I have searched YouTube and online but there seems to be scant resources for cleaning and repair of this machine.

I just picked up a Touchmaster Five and am beginning to clean it up. I got stumped right off the bat. I can't remove the ribbon! I know it has special spools and have watched Duane of Phoenix Typewriters change the spools but the spools in his video are different. Mine seem to have some sort of locking mechanism and won't slide up and off. Any ideas?
