Advice needed: Choosing the right Somfy motors for Shelly/Home Assistant integration
Hi everyone,
I’m currently renovating my house and my builder is suggesting Somfy motors for all my blinds and awnings. After looking at their website, I’m a bit overwhelmed by the number of options (RTS, IO, wired, etc.).
I want to integrate everything into Home Assistant, but I have two specific requirements:
Local control via relays: I’d prefer to use Shelly (like the Shelly Plus 2PM) or similar relays rather than relying on proprietary cloud bridges like the TaHoma.
Manual Override: It is a must that the physical wall switches continue to work normally.
From what I’ve read, if I want to use Shellys, I should probably ask for standard "dumb" wired motors (4-wire) instead of the radio-controlled ones (RTS or IO-homecontrol).
Is this the best path to take for a rock-solid HA setup? Are there any specific Somfy models I should look for (or avoid) to make sure they play nice with external relays?
Would love to hear from anyone who has gone through a similar setup recently. Thanks!
