I’m 25/f and I’m going to have a double total hip replacement in about a year. My AS has developed really quickly over the last few years and combined with a delay in diagnosis and a delay in getting onto biologics - my hips are now completely damaged.
Has anyone else had a hip replacement fairly young? What was your experience like in terms of getting to grips with the idea, having the surgery, recovering and dealing with the shock when you tell other people? And any other tips?
For context, I’m lucky that I have always been fairly healthy and small so have maintained my mobility enough to do daily life and can hide it but I’ve had to stop doing most forms of sport and other fun stuff like clubbing :(
