Strange freezing episodes
For the past while I’ve been having strange episodes that seem strongly triggered by emotional intensity/stress (excitement, fear, anger, anxiety, etc.). During these episodes I feel like my brain “freezes” and everything slows down mentally and physically.
Symptoms during episodes:
Speech becomes slower/slurred or harder to get words out
Brain fog / cognitive slowing
Feel mentally “stuck”
Clumsiness and poor coordination
Sometimes my right leg feels weak or less coordinated
Reading gets difficult and I almost become “dyslexic” temporarily (mixing up words/letters, trouble processing text)
Strong emotional situations reliably trigger it
Caffeine used to make it much worse, but it can happen even without caffeine now
Other things:
Sometimes after eating certain foods (even something like a chicken sandwich) I suddenly become extremely sluggish/foggy and feel my heartbeat pounding hard
Cold seems to worsen some of my symptoms overall
Symptoms feel neurological, but they’re heavily tied to stress/adrenaline/emotional activation
I’m trying to understand whether this sounds more like:
anxiety/adrenaline overload,
nervous system dysregulation,
a neurological issue,
blood sugar/autonomic problems,
or something else.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
