I’ve recently been playing some really cool games like 9 days which is a superhero simulator type game but looking back I really really like the idea of prototype or maneater persay. Evolving as a villain or monster is really fun and I love the chaos. Any recommendations that are not older than prototype era? The older games usually aren’t good.
I don’t know if there is a true lore but this was my take on a cool and realistic story for man eater truth quest and explaining why the man eater becomes infused with the same mutations as plover creatures without having been there.
Long ago, Plover was in an early stage of experimentation with aquatic creatures. They wanted to find the perfect way to threaten the world and blackmail them for a cure/solution. They made bone whales, shadow orcas, and electric sharks, but none of them would be strong enough to work large scale, and it was too expensive to produce an army. But, one great white, after being released for testing on port Clovis, was exposed to nuclear radiation leaked from dead horse lake. The scientists took note of its body gaining increased durability, strength, and most importantly, releasing radiation. They found some people and wildlife exposed and took them for examination. They found that the radiation sickness was killing them rapidly. This spawns the perfect the idea- expose the world to radiation.
Years of testing later, they find that they cannot get a creature infected without it dying in weeks. Months if lucky. So they keep searching for true symbiosis and try to create a creature with a body that can use the radiation and expel it. They land on a bull shark. They experiment heavily on it but the bull shark showed no connection to the radiation at all. It didn’t mutate one inch from a normal shark like the rest. The reason was that it was pregnant and all the mutations fed into the baby. The scientists, having no understanding of how that could happen, release the bull shark and label it a failure. What they don’t realize is that this was the perfect creation. The maneater is born after Pete skewers the mother and thus come to be the most in control mutator.
In the present, they recreated the perfect life form with newer technologies and create moloch, the apex leviathan. They release it and plan to infect the world then sell the cure. But there is no cure to the radiation sickness, so they plan to lie and keep minimal survivors to not cause a total planetary collapse. To do this, they make sure moloch is completely aquatic and cannot spread mainland locations. The few survivors after the maneater massacres plover realize this creature must have been their creation, because it is somehow perfectly in tune with the radioactive power. Even their leviathan fell short in the perfect combination. The maneater slays the leviathan due to the leviathan being completely unnaturally evolved and incapable of controlling its body efficiently. Then the future is unclear.
