When to use EpiPen?

Sorry to bother but I kinda freaked myself out and am a bit unsure. I have a peanut allergy and never used a EpiPen even though I’ve had it my whole life. Today I had a cookie with walnuts and like right after felt pretty bad. My throat hurt and felt tight, I got hot, and breathing was a bit hard. I had only had like 2 bites of the cookie and stopped then took Benadryl. It helped and now I am pretty much back to normal except my throat feels a bit funny though nowhere near before. When is the point where your symptoms are bad enough to need a EpiPen I felt scared this time. Can I give myself an allergic reaction out of anxiety or dread? I’ve worried about being allergic to walnuts for a long time but my parents said I was siking myself out and causing my reaction since I’m only supposed to be allergic to peanuts. It could just be cross contamination but I’ve done this with walnuts before and the same thing happened where I feel bad are these two nuts linked?
