Built from a prebuilt I got on sale for $650 back in August 2025. Kept the case, stock cpu cooler, mobo, 1Tb Sn850x Nvme SSD and that’s about it. I purchased a GigaByte Windforce 5080 on Newegg with affirm “paid it off in 3 months” for $999! When I got received the new GPU I posted the 5060 for $100 on sale on my Snapchat, an old friend came to my house not 30 minutes after the post with cash in hand for it. It was like it was meant to be 😆 I used that money for the new MSI Mag 850w psu I was gonna need to power this new 5080. I drove to my nearest Best Buy and purchased one off the shelf. The Pc felt GREAT! But it was still definitely lacking. The prebuild came with a Ryzen 5 8400f and was bottlenecking the 5080. Not only that, the Pc had only 1x16gb 6000mhz ddr5 stick. I did some eBay & Mercari hunting and found a Ryzen 5 7600X3D for $200 and 2x16gb 4800mhz ddr5 ram sticks for $80 bucks. I know the ram would be slower overall, but at 1440p/4k quantity matters more, and with a X3D cpu the Ram latency is reduced quite a bit so the difference is negligible between the two speeds within these parameters. It was also very very cheap for 2 sticks of working Kingston Fury rgb ddr5. Overall this cost me about 1,950-2,000 but it performs well above any prebuilt you would find on the market for that price point. How would you guys have went with upgrading the pc? Is there anything you would recommend me changing to get more performance out of my current rig? I really appreciate the advice & feedback!!!
