Questions about oursourcing services
Hey everyone,
I’m currently starting a virtual assistant company based in Guatemala focused on supporting CPA firms and accounting professionals in the U.S.
My goal is not just to provide cheap labor, but to build a team of reliable, trainable, long-term assistants that can genuinely help accounting firms reduce workload and grow without burning out their internal staff.
Since many of you are actually in the industry, I’d love to get honest feedback from CPAs, accountants, bookkeepers, or firm owners here.
What kind of tasks or services would you realistically trust a remote assistant with?
Some examples I’ve been thinking about:
- Bookkeeping support
- Payroll assistance
- Tax prep organization
- Client follow-ups
- Email and calendar management
- CRM/data entry
- Insurance audits and admin support
- QuickBooks support
- Appointment scheduling
- Document collection during tax season
But I’d really like to hear from people actually running firms.
A few questions:
- What are the biggest bottlenecks in your firm right now?
- What tasks take too much time but don’t necessarily require a CPA?
- Have you ever worked with offshore or remote staff before?
- What made the experience good or bad?
- What would make you trust a VA company enough to try it?
I’d appreciate any honest advice, even if it’s criticism. I’m trying to build something that actually helps firms instead of becoming another outsourcing headache.
Thanks in advance.
