Getting back into X4 after a couple of years of being distracted by other games. Never really made it far, but I want to engage with it this time around and learn the ins and outs.

I see three options ahead of me:

1. Start a new playthrough on the beta -> Choose this if the beta is in a good state and pretty close to release
2. Start a new playthrough on the release branch -> Choose this if the beta is in a state that isn't useful for learning the game (like I won't know if it's a bug or X4 being X4)
3. Grind timelines and wait for 9.0 -> Choose this if release is likely soon-ish and the beta still has a lot of work needed

I have all the DLCs... Most of the posts I see about the beta don't seem to be very positive in terms of the current state. Seems like a very promising release, though, but just worried that it still has too far to go in terms of balance and bugs to be enjoyable.
