How plausible is a certain situation in ep 7?

How plausible is the situation of Italians from the Salo Republic actually being in possession of ten tons of gold and coming to Japan to hide it, based off real life history?

This is more of a post where I try to figure things out, but if anyone knows these things and is willing to answer (without spoiling the solution outright obv)

  1. Has anyone in the western community actually solved this mystery? Is it similar to Bern's game in the vein that there is only one/a few configurations of people that could be the culprit?
  2. Battler says this in purple at one point: "The old bastard[Rudolf] won't kill. After all, this bastard is part of my family, At least I will trust him on this." Battler is said to not be the culprit later in red, meaning he cannot lie in purple. Him saying this means that Rudolf can't be a culprit, is that right? Am I misinterpreting this somehow?
  3. Erika says in purple after the second twilight, when checking the alibis: "First, when we arrived at the guest room, George and Hideyoshi had both died." Erika is also confirmed to not be a culprit in red (unless there's word play there and she could be the culprit), therefore, she can't lie in purple. However, one of the hints on the wiki says: >!George, Hideyoshi, and Jessica are the only ones whose death is not confirmed by either Battler or Erika during their corresponding twilight. Erika personally confirms George and Hideyoshi's deaths for the first time during the final search. !<This confuses me, because the above purple takes place not long after the initial discovery and BEFORE the final search. And also Erika was personally present during the initial discovery? Is the hint just partially bullshit, or is the meaning of her statement supposed to be "When we first arrived at the guest room, George and Hideyoshi looked to be dead"?
  4. When Natsuhi and Jessica are locked in the rose garden storehouse, Natsuhi says in purple: "I also believe that Jessica is innocent." The wording here seems to imply she only thinks that Jessica is innocent, not that she's sure of it. Is this the case, or should I read it as her being sure of it?
