Hello, I have a question for you all but first I feel the context for my question is important so if you would please indulge me (if not I have a tldr at the end). I'm very very new to rockhounding and a few weeks ago I went with a group to find selenite. The people in the group showed me and the other beginners how and where to find it so I was able to get quite a few good pieces. My partner just surprised me with a surprise rockhound excursion out to Devils Playground yesterday essentially expecting the same results even though neither of us know what we were doing and we didn't have the right equipment like a shovel or prybar, just a rockpick lol. We got some quartz but no point crystals and no other crystals like kyanite, epidote, and garnet. He feels like he let me down but I'm happy with what we got. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tiny bit sad but I am happy with our haul. I'm hoping to find a place where "he can take me" where we can find some stuff that even a non-rock person like him can be happy with and that's easy to find for beginners who have no idea what they're doing or what to look for. Are there any areas in Northern Utah (within 1-2ish hours from Brigham City) that has "easy win" extra beginner friendly findable point crystals? Or something else that a non-rock person can find satisfying? (Not the lucky star mine though I already have that on my to-do list and he's not terribly interested). I hope this request is even possible and has an answer lol. Thank you.
tldr: partner is sad we didn't find anything he thinks is "good" (he's not a rock person) when he took me on a surprise rockhound trip so I want to help him find something he'd like.
