Kitty’s Back Claw Seems Inflamed
Hi all! I have a quick question about the state of my cat’s back claws. She’s our first kitty, 1.5 years old.
We recently moved to a new home and for the past few weeks, she has been exploring the outdoors (on a harness & leash, supervised!) and some of that involves walking, climbing, and jumping on patio stone.
I noticed yesterday that some of her back nails seem rougher than usual. And one in particular — that seems slightly worse today — is quite red, with the middle of the nail maybe potentially exposed — I can’t quite tell. I’ve attached pictures here. I see no actual blood or pus etc but I want to make sure it’s not infected.
We’re not planning to let her outside for the time being to be safe. From the pictures, though, are you able to tell if this is just normal wear & tear that will heal on its own, or if it’s something that warrants a vet visit?
She doesn’t seem to be in any pain or limping but I know cats can hide that well sometimes.
Thank you so much!
