Two months into a new role and really struggling. I’m 9 months postpartum, relocated to another state recently for my husband’s job, and had to find something new in our city. Felt like I was thrown into the lions den from day one - steep learning curve with very little ramp time.
The manager dynamic has made it worse. She’s new to management herself and the pattern has been consistent: vague verbal direction, unclear role ownership, and criticism after the fact. I’m also getting feedback that I move too quickly and miss details. I’m taking that seriously but it’s hard when expectations were never clearly set.
At home it’s not much better. Baby still waking 3-4x a night despite sleep training, and I’m still pumping and breastfeeding.
I’m running on empty. I know the market is rough and leaving without something lined up is risky but I don’t know how much longer I can sustain this.
Did you stick it out? Start quietly looking? How did you know when it was time? And how did you keep going when you felt like you couldn’t?
