I need money
Hello everyone,
I am a first year student and in my first placement.
So far placement is great and I am enjoying it.
However I don’t have money.
My sfe for the yr is 3k and that is after I had an increase from 1.4k for the yh( if you can imagine)
The training grant, I am unfortunately not eligible as I did a previous yr and used tht.
I dropped out for personal reasons but wanted to give nursing another go.
I have a job so my psycheck is around £700/800, less on a bad month.
And that may seem a lot but I pay £355 for my insurance. Fuel is over £100 since I have diesel and use my car more than 4 times a week( placements/ work)
I can’t give up my car since I use it to go to placement and I can’t get cheaper insurance quotes
Placement is almost an hour away.
I also have a loan which I am paying back each month.
Sooo I don’t really have a lot of money. I help my mum out when I can and don’t really have a lot for myself when everything is paid for.
On top of that, I pay for parking which is £14 each day and I go about 3/4 times a week. I have asked and there is not student parking or permits available 😪
My car also needs fixing. I need to replace my tyre and I think I have a boost leak.
( when driving on the motorway and I’m driving the car will kinda go into limp mode, it won’t accelerate more but I still keep the speed and sometimes it kicks back in so I can accelerate more)
I also need to service the car so as you can imagine so much things to do but no money.
I even had to give up a shift due to being on placement which was over £200😪🫣
I can’t really pick up more shifts since placement is obviously a priority so I’m in a bit of a pickle
I am going to apply for the esf but in the meantime is there any other help I can access like grants, bursaries tht I may not know.
