I have really really high glucose level like 180 and up (9 to max 14 mmol/L). I was prediabetic before and have PCOS. Anyways, honestly feel a bit down because everyone here has levels less than 180 and seems more easily to have it all under control. I got diagnosed at 26 weeks and been on insulin for over a week.

Currently on 9 units of Humalin (slow release) twice a day and 9 units of Novorapid 3 times a day. Total of 45 units across the day. I am in the UK fyi. I still haven’t found the right dose and none of my numbers are in the range (all way above). My midwife has been increasing max 2 unit extra every day.

Anyways how long did it take you for to find your somewhat correct dose even if it did change a bit after pregnancy progresses?

Just got my positive result today. I do have PCOS, family history of diabetes and my level was pre diabetic before pregnancy. I am not shocked I have GD but I didn’t expect my results to be this high.

Was told my initial level before the drink was 12.6 and it’s supposed to be less then 5.3 I think? And my 2 hours was 26! I am not sure the units but was told this is really high. I was told to come in asap tomorrow to have insulin but I want to stick to metformin as that’s what I took to get pregnant with my PCOS. I just had my midwife appointments a few days ago and the baby heart beat/growth was all normal for 26 weeks. I started getting recurrent thrush about 3 weeks ago and my doctor suspected GD with my history. I just couldn’t do the normal glucose test earlier and even the nurse cancelled my blood test as she was ill.

I just want some advice and reassurance that I haven’t harmed my baby because they tested me at 26 weeks pregnant. Confused and to be honest a little scared. I wanted to stick to metformin and have a normal vaginal birth if possible even if induced earlier. Don’t know if that’s possible. New to this whole thing and I am a FTM. 😅
