Any reasons to buy an E-scooter over an E-bike?

Many have told me that Electric Bikes were more reliable than electric scooters but while that’s true I do think Electric scooters have major benefits.

  1. They’re smaller and more compact. Which makes it easier to get slip out of traffic.

  2. Significantly faster than E-bikes at lower price points which can make trips and travel time shorter. Especially if you’re good at riding it in the road.

  3. Easier to take inside stores or maybe inside a hotel room if you stay with someone on vacation. Because Leaving an E-bike outside overnight leaves a pretty high risk of theft and you could lose all your money. Because everyone can see it right there. Scary stuff

Even if the scooter is 100 pounds you should be able to pull it in the hotel room with you

Any other benefits with E-scooters over E-bikes?

Advice for riding the Segway GT3 Pro without your scooter getting confiscated?

I’ve heard some stressful stories about people getting their scooters taken away by the police for going too fast. In my town I believe the cops only pull you over if you’re actually causing a problem. But I might be wrong.

While the Segway GT3 Pro and Yume Raptor are able to go up to 50 mph, I’m pretty sure the scooters have a system for lowering your speed and controlling how fast your scooter goes

Because most of the time you’re not gonna go 50 miles per hour anyway.

It’s just the extra speed would make uphills rides easier and going 35 miles an hour sometimes could shorten travel time and make returning home easier and quicker.

All I’m trying to do is go out and get back home.

It shouldn’t be so hard or complicated to buy an electric scooter to do all that with inside of calling uber drivers everyday

Because stuff like that is gonna be a problem in the long run because of the extreme costs and that it just never ends.

I’m wanting to buy a much better bike and have $2,700 saved so far in my PayPal

The electric mountain bike I currently have was $600 off Amazon but now I’m wanting a much better one mainly because the battery wobbles a lot while I’m riding so hopefully I can get a new e-bike where I can insert the battery inside of the Bike frame instead of overtop of it.

Especially so it’s less exposed to rain when I try to get home.

And I also want a different bike that is easier to switch gears at night to get up hills and possibly has integrated turn signals incase there’s a car behind me so I don't get rear ended and get my back wheel broken.

I was looking at the Aventon level 3. It has an adjustable handlebar and some really nice features.

It’s just there needs to be different bikes where it’s easier to switch gears in very dark areas for steeper hills so I can actually climb up them.

I don’t get to go out a lot and getting outta the house shouldn’t be so complicated or cost a bunch of money every month over and over again.

Why are Electric scooters so much faster than Electric bikes?

So I saw an almost $2,000 e-bike the Aventon level 3 and noticed the max speed was only 28 miles per hour. Meanwhile the Yume Raptor 2 is $1,600 and goes 50 mph.

Why is that even though they’re so close in price?

You Wouldn’t be allowed to go 50 miles an hour all the time but wouldn’t being able to go faster than 30 miles an hour help make trips and travel a lot shorter?

I know I got a lot of advice to buy E-bikes but now speed makes my $2,000 purchasing decision a bit complex so I might need time to think and consider.

$2,000 takes a long time to make you know

Is Pimax still working on the Pimax Dream Air SE?

I wanted to Buy the Pimax Dream Air because my Crystal Super is just bulky, heavy, and uncomfortable for long play sessions so I decided I wanted to go a completely different factor.

The only problem is $2,000 takes a long time to come up with so I can’t always spend such a large amount.

So Im starting to think about buying the Dream Air SE so I don’t spend as much money and my gpu can keep up. I know downgrading in specs doesn’t make sense but the Crystal super puts a lot of strain on my 5090

Particularly vrchat.

And I thought if I bought the Dream Air SE that yes it’d be a downgrade but I would still have a great time in vr on my 5090 for only half the cost of the original Pimax Dream Air

Any reasons you can give to buy an E-bike over an E-scooter?

Some people have told me to buy an E-bike over an electric scooter but the only problem with that is Electric bikes are much bigger and more bulky so you can’t take them inside the store because they'll take up room.

If your electric scooter weighs 100 pounds you might be able to use a wheelie or haul it inside a store on one wheel the whole time if you’re unable to pick it up.

An electric bike I don’t think stores will let you do that since it’s just bulky and it’ll probably take space up in the store.

Plus E-scooters may have simpler maintenance and controls. And they’re smaller so they’ll be easier to store.

Any recommended E-bike brands?

There are many different E-bike brands but which are most popular and trustworthy so I know which websites to look for E-bikes first?

Just so I know where I can start.

Instead of randomly clicking and getting scammed.

Basically I live in West Virginia in a town with a lot of hills and incline and I just need transportation to get around town.

The issue with buying a car is the monthly expenses like car insurance that you keep paying over and over again. Very costly in the long run.

I have $2600 in my PayPal currently, hopefully I’ll get $3,000 in there soon.

Should be more enough to get an excellent bike with excellent battery life for rides around town lasting several hours a day.

I also hope to get an model I can ride easily at night during the dark without having trouble finding my controls like the gear shift since that’s how I get up the hills and control the bike.

Yume Raptor 2, anyone try it yet?

I saw a few reviews on the Yume Raptor 2 and for its $1,600 price it sounds like a pretty good scooter.

It is claimed to go up to 50 miles per hour and have a 60 mile range.

So saw YouTube reviews that were pretty good but has anyone tried it and got complaints for it?

I know I could buy the Segway GT3 Pro, the only problem with that scooter is that it’s $2700 and right now I’m only at $2600 on my PayPal so I’m not quite there yet.

Plus the Yume Raptor sounds like a pretty good deal for a much lower price than the Segway GT3 Pro.

It’s $1600 vs $2700

Are E-scooters from Apollo any good? Trying to watch out for false advertising

A lot of people on this Reddit recommended me the Apollo go so perhaps I could search their website for a new electric scooter.

Just gotta watch what electric scooter brand I buy from because the battery range may not be what they’ve advertised. Or perhaps these companies don’t consider that most people weigh 200 pounds before stating battery range.

Particularly men.

I saw the Yume Raptor 2 online and it looked like a nice fast scooter with 50 miles per hour but it’ll be 100 pounds which means I can pick it up or take it inside with me so that one might be off the list.

Still looks like an awesome scooter though.

I have $2400 in my paypal so I could stretch a bit more on an E scooter. Just whatever is enough for getting around town and comfortable transportation.

I get tired of walking and getting all sweaty. When I’m out walking my forehead is drenched and it feels like my body is heating up underneath my jacket. I’m like a sauna on foot

I heard some e scooters have regen brakes for going downhill but even then the scary thing about riding downhill is gravity is gonna push you down faster

Which can be scary because any sudden brakes or tight turns in that scenario are enough to send you flying and get you seriously hurt.

Do you guys gently hold your brakes Or what do you guys typically do?

I personally think it’d be easier to slow down while going downhill or go a controllable speed.

If a car is behind you then you should be able to just pull over to the edge of the road and let them pass you with an e scooter.

I recently heard some bad news from MRTV that Pimax wouldn’t do ringless controllers anymore, is that true?

If so that really crushes my hopes for buying the Pimax Dream Air because the regular Pimax controllers just are not great.

They have the rings on them and they’re quite plastic feeling. Especially the trigger buttons

Im switching from the Pimax Crystal Super because I’m just sick and tired of oversized vr headsets on my head and I’m also tired of the extra weight because it makes it harder to play for longer sessions.

I saw Segway had external batteries for their electric scooter that increase the range by 80%. It sounds useful and convenient for cruises or long rides

But does that charge the scooters main battery, like how does that work?

Because if a battery is charged and used at the same time it’ll degrade quicker and reduce time out riding before you have to recharge.

I said before the Pimax Dream Air Slam camera tracked version was a lower quality but less complicated tracking system

But there’s a more complicated reason I’d rather buy the Slam Verison.

See Steam or Valve stopped producing lighthouse setups so you can’t get lighthouses and base stations from them anymore.

So now you have to buy 2 base stations from HTC Vive for $200 each one, and then you gotta go to Shiftall and get the Gripvr for $400.

On top of that the Lighthouse tracked Dream Air is still $1999

That means you‘re gonna be basically spending nearly $3,000 after tax on the Lighthouse Tracked Pimax Dream Air

Unless of course you have a lighthouse setup already.

Since Steam just stopped selling lighthouses a few months ago so it is possible that in the next 5 years from now it’ll be pretty hard to find base stations from anywhere so might as well move onto Slam Tracked VR anyway to simplify setup and cost
