Hello,

I recently graduated from college in December 2025. I am based in Miami. I have gone on like 4 interviews after applying to over 400+ jobs and I am at a loss and need direction and input overall.

My portfolio is from adobe portfolio so it's pretty basic. I've heard a lot of designers say different things such as "simple is better as a beginner" and others say I need to push for more. I made my portfolio on adobe because I have the subscription and it's included. I need advice on how I can make it look better or if maybe I should explore other options for my website.

Also, I would love some tips on how to put my name out there. I was considering freelancing but a lot of people on reddit that are beginner designers (like me) say that the websites are oversaturated and competitive because there are so many great designers out there. I really want a stable job and was honestly looking into freelancing as a last resort.

I really want to pursue branding or print design. I have 1 year experience as a graphic designer and social media specialist in one company that unfortunately shut down. I also have an internship with a nonprofit. I did three exhibits with my school as well that I put on my resume.

Any advice on how to continue this process or try new tactics to land a job would be appreciated so much. Thank you!
