Little brother being told to have AI do his entire assignment for him???
Hello. My little brother is an 8th grader. They are supposed to be doing the whole “present as a historical figure in American history” thing within the next couple weeks. His teacher very literally told them to generate their entire speech using Gemini using a prompt that tells it to “make a 60 second speech in first person at an 8th grade level about [historical figure].” Ik AI didn’t exist when I was his age but this feels horribly incompetent. I had to do the exact same thing in middle school and I feel my little brother is missing out on critical skills bc of this approach. To make things worse, the school has mass banned a bunch of sources so he’s having difficulty getting by without ai for this assignment. What should we do??? This is actually insane to me.
Edit: no he isn’t “misremembering” he took a picture in class of the teachers presentation. This is real.
