Did i catch HSV-1?
24M , healthy and not immunocompromised, never had an HSV outbreak of any type whatsoever. My girlfriend 23M has oral HSV-1 and didn’t know that HSV-1 can be genital as well, she’s towards the end of an outbreak and has one sore of her inner lip, she has been taking 2g BID of valacyclovir for the last few days, so while laying together she proceeded to give me oral and I abruptly stopped her but she had already licked (no lip contact) my penis for literally ONE second not more, I didn’t know she’s oblivious to the the fact that HSV-1 is not strictly oral otherwise I would have stopped her earlier obviously. I got up and washed the area with soap right after. Is this 1-sec tongue contact enough to transmit the virus to a non-immunocompromised person? I started to take Valacyclovir 2g BID and plan to do so for the next 5 days in case that helps although I’m aware there is no agreed upon PEP regimen for HSV. Thank you in advance
