We joined a 12u Georgia impact team. We pay in the fall for fall then spring. My husband and I were warned but did not heed the advice the coach was verbally abusive. There has been red flags with as rude as he is to the girls but This past weekend the girls did not live up to his standards. He decided after the scrimmage to make them get on their hands and knees and pick up sunflower seeds out of the dirt. The worst part is it wasn’t even their sunflower seeds. He was just doing it as a punishment. It seems degrading but I am a protective mama and maybe I’m over reacting. He has spoken rude to them in the past but never made them get on their hands and knees and collect sunflower seeds as a punishment. We have heard a lot of things he used to do in the past like this but never witnessed it. We still have a ways to go in the season and we are paid in full as of January. I can’t believe an organization with a good reputation like impact would give this man a team and let him degrade 12 year olds like this. Is this out of line or am I over reacting? Is this normally how this organization is? Allowing these kinds of people coach their teams? In the past he’s called them cry babies. I just do not understand how someone thinks this is ok but maybe I’m being over protective. What would you do in this situation?
