Lab Results?

Does anyone know why doctors do everything except an iron panel? I’m 19 and decided to start seeing an adult doctor and came in to get bloodwork done and figure out the cause of my symptoms (fatigue for years, brain fog, getting sick easily, dizziness, circulation issues, nausea, hair loss, irregular and heavy periods etc), she told me she would check my urine and check for anemia diabetes vitamin d thyroid kidney blah blah the usual stuff.

I told her I specifically want to know about iron deficiency because I know it can present on its own without anemia, and the women in my family all have had some serious iron issues. I also admitted I’m a picky eater and really only eat chicken for meat and not many veggies.

They called me in to go over my labs so I was kind of expecting something to be abnormal and finally give me some clarity on how i’m feeling just for her to tell me everything looks normal and that they didn’t check for iron specifically because “checking for anemia is usually enough” and “I can’t think of anything else to test to investigate your fatigue”.

Is hemoglobin the most important thing here? Some stuff is low and borderline low, but I’m really wondering why the other iron tests aren’t added to the basic blood panels for women complaining of these same symptoms. Why do doctors avoid it like the plague 😭 either way I’m going to see a gyno for my irregular cycle and hopefully be able to get some answers for that
