Is Cimarron basically the only “convenient” area in El Paso?

I’ve lived in the far NE for about 2 years now and while I really enjoy how quiet it is, I don’t love how little convenience there is nearby. It feels like I have to drive for everything, and if you follow FitFam, you already know why I’d rather stay off the roads as much as possible.

I’m trying to figure out where to live long-term here. I’m not originally from El Paso, but this is likely home for me for the next several years, if not longer, so I want to make a smart choice that actually supports my day-to-day life.

I work from home and I’m trying to get out more, so what I’m looking for is pretty simple:

• basic stuff close by (food, coffee, errands)

• not having to get in my car for every little thing

• a place that feels fairly calm and safe

• somewhere that actually makes day-to-day life easier

• close-ish to hiking trails and parks

So far the ONLY area that’s felt even close to that is Cimarron near The Canyons, where things are at least grouped together.

Everywhere else I’ve looked feels like a nice area… but nothing nearby as far as convenience. Or stuff nearby… but not really walkable or convenient... Or just straight up driving for everything, which is what I want to avoid.

Is this accurate, or are there other pockets like Cimarron that I’m missing?

Also open to apartment/condo recommendations if you’ve actually had a good experience living somewhere.

Just trying to figure out if I’m overlooking something or if this is just how El Paso is.

Appreciate the honesty!
