Do any of you crochet and have serious irritation on the finger the yarn rests on?

( I tried searching the group’s past posts but couldn’t find anything so I apologize if this has already been answered. )

It’s like 5 minutes in, my index finger is burning and red from the yarn sliding over it. Even the soft chenille yarn.

I’ve put a bandaid over the area and that helps, but ends up irritating as well just in a different way. #adhesives Lol.

Any tips?
