Recently the washer starting banging, and getting off balance during the spin cycle. So I watched some videos on YT, and after pushing on the tub, seeing it bounce around I replaced the suspension rods with Whirlpool OEM rods.
That helped, but did not solve my problem entirely. Went back to YT, and then checked for play between the tub and basket, sure enough there was noticeable play. I ordered, and installed a new NEU (i think that's the brand) red sleeve in the basket, and a new plastic hub, same style that was on it. The spindle seemed to be in good shape considering the age, tiny bit of rust, and some nasty leftover detergent. The splines seemed to be in really good shape also. The splines felt almost sharp to the touch, and I could easily feel each little groove when rubbing my fingers around the spines. All of them felt this way, the spins for the hub, and the splines for the wash plate.
That fixed the slop between the tub and basket, but the washer still gets severely off balance during the spin cycle. side note it seems to bang around the most when it starts, as the spin gets faster the washer smooths out some.
After all the repairs and reassembly I recalibrated the washer.
Just wondering if there is another part that could be the cause of this?
