I just finished the Tokyo ghoul manga

Normally I’d feel empty after reading a manga cause I’m the type of guy who really gets into whatever piece of media i read or watch, but strangely not with Tokyo ghoul I don’t feel empty, I just feel satisfied.

I’ll be posting some of my fav screenshots some didn’t make it here not because they weren’t impactful but because I was enjoying it too much to just clip it as another panel.

  1. The first one is probably one of my fav because it goes to show that no matter how much you try to change parts of you will never change you’ll always be yourself in a way

  2. Kaneki was so tuff here l could barely recognize him

  3. Arimas death was so impactful and him and kaneki’s relationship was beautifully written. I see a lot of people condemn it on the premise that the basis of their relationship is just Kaneki trying to fill a void left by his parents but to me I don’t think it should matter, most human relationships are actually built by that very feeling, wanting to fill a void wether it’s love, security, emptiness or happiness we all build bonds because we want them to fill the things we can’t by ourselves. Arima entrusted everything to him and was one of the people who gave him a reason to live even when he felt like he had none.

  4. Tbh kaneki was never really fit to be one eyed king cause if you understand his character you'd know he's just a guy who feels empty and needs people to need him but im glad he didn't do things half assed like with banjos crew back in Tokyo ghoul and took his role as the leader of the goats seriously. Watching him try to carry he weight of the ghouls and humans as a collective was inspiring.

  5. This one was just just funny tbh 😂

  6. And yes my fav because of how relatable it is. (This isn't me trying to sound edgy I genuinely relate to kaneki's character in more ways l'd like to admit)

Even after watching the anime 6 years ago I never imagined I’d fall in love with it all over again.

Tokyo ghoul you were a wonderful experience. Thank you.

I started steins gate a while back and by the time I was watching zero which showed how much Okabe had to do for the ending of the original series he already became a top 5 character in my book. For reference I watched the anime first then the ova then zero and I saved the movie for last since before watching steins gate I did my research and found out it was supposed to expand on the relationship between Okabe and Christina so I thought it was going to be more slice of life which I would have preferred and loved to see.

Steins gate is beautiful the original series was simple yet intriguing with a plot that felt consistent enough, zero expanded on characters I always wanted to know more about and Okabes struggles especially with mental health that I felt the original run didn’t capture enough and the ova ending with him and Makise in the desert was nice, but the movie was nothing like I expected.

The initial minutes of the movie felt familiar and I was impressed by the animation effort, but slowly when the plot started to develop I instantly felt the lackluster writing as compared to the original series. So many things felt problematic to be considered cannon like

Okabe disappearing, Suzuha coming from the future again, the 48 hour rule with the phone microwave, the deal with reading Steiner?? And no I wasn’t familiar with the vn so for most anime watchers like myself they felt out of place.

I tried to get into the movie regardless because of my love for the series but the second half threw me off, it was so fast paced that I already found myself hating it when I saw there were fewer than 20mins left to resolve this huge problem and I just knew they would solve it in the most lackluster way.

The most painful part was the fact that we still never saw what two of them being together was like in canon form just an understanding that they feel for each other not even a proper relationship was built (on screen anyways).

How did you all feel about the movie or was it the watching order I got wrong??

As someone who’s favorite genre is romance I honestly gave up on new romance anime’s as they had been progressively getting worse each season with a few good ones here and there like Mikadono sisters and The shuinji family and some unnecessary adaptations like rent a mid season 4. But this is season is the best in years for the romance genre.

My angel next door spoils me rotten, Haibaras teenage new game, The ramparts of Ice, Gals can’t be nice to an Otaku, The Klutzy class monitor and the girl with the shot skirt, I made friends with the second prettiest girl, Even a replica can fall in love, I want to end this love game.

Compared to previous years this season has a lot of romance I consider quality compared to the average slop that’s been served to us for a while.

What’s your fav ongoing romance this season??
