Does Tax Slayer charge more for state returns as the filing deadline gets closer? I filed a return form my child using the Classic for Federal and NYS. Total charge (with taxes) was $68. A week later, filed the same for my other child (Classic Fed and NYS) and was charged $93. I see on the website the disclaimer "State tax returns are $45.99 and may change without notice. Actual prices are determined at the time of print or e-file." Both returns were same, 1040 with 1099-DIV. Why did the price increase almost $30 within a week
