(Just a preface i am new to pathfinder 2e but have been running dnd 5e for a while)
I am giving all of my lvl 1 players a relic to grow with them as the campaign progresses. I want it to feel tuned to their characters and balanced for their level. I have been looking at other relics and tweaking where I think fits character
I am still playing around with the relics for the other party members but I think this one is pretty much finished.
He is playing a dwarven tinker with a construction companion. He frequently uses explosive leap to position his companion around the map. I was planning on allowing him to fix this relic either to his Construct or himself as a large damage dealing AOE.
Tinker's Capacitor
"A small stone of ruby and violet coloration that tingles faintly when held. If listened to closely a light humming can be heard."
Must be affixed to a piece of armor
(Aspect of air)
• **Static Burst:** When affixed to a piece of armor the controller may choose to spend 2 action once per day to release the charge withing the stone. On activation the stone discharges a large electric wave dealing 1d12 lightning damage in a 10ft radius and an additional 1d4 sonic damage in a 5ft radius. Basic reflex save
• Haphazard Charge: As a reaction the wielder can absorb some lightning into the stone reducing the total lightning damage by 1d4 charging the stone.
Overcharged Burst: If the stone is charged you may overcharge burst instead of static burst increasing the radius of both the lightning damage and sonic damage by 5 feet.
I would just like some constructive criticism or some guidance to whether this works well and I have a grasp on relic design.
