tips for uprising freshmen

just got rejected from my waitlist so it looks like im fully committed to NJIT honors.

any tips for a chemical engineering major? what to expect from course rigor (as compared to like, AP Chemistry and AP Physics) and clubs/activities/competitions or research opportunities good for ADHC students that would help alot when looking for a job for engineering? i know its a bit unrealistic but im trying to get a job as soon as possible as i really lack any job experience, any places nearby that hire often?

as for safety concerns, i heard newark is quite a dangerous area but the campus itself is well-guarded. still, i do want to enjoy the area around, so are there any places that you MUST stay away from on campus or off-campus?

and how is the social life? im not a very outgoing person but i still do want a social life with friends i can occasionally hang out with or help each other. little worried about roommates and all that if theres any tips for that too.

any foods that are good in the Highlander Commons? and is it cheaper to not pay for a meal plan and instead meal prep? (also little confused about ADHC dorming situation. is honors dorms not guaranteed for all upcoming freshmen honors students? didn't see any resident hall selection on my housing application)

any tips is really appreciated. trying my best to transfer or go into a better graduate program and land a good job so building a good portfolio early is really important to me.
