Alright... Just a quick update on the Evo 5. Well, with where I started, I didn't really expect to go this far and now I am at an odd crossroads.

Initially, I just planned to do the timing belt, pulleys, water pump, flywheel, clutch and get the hell back on the road.

Then, it spiraled a little bit, deciding to shoot for more power while I had the engine/transmission out.

I guess I overlooked one small aspect that has me feeling a tiny bit heavy. I recently did a compression test and came back with cylinder #1 at around 130-133ish psi, vs around 150 psi for the other cylinders.

It puts me just outside 10% deviation and it leaves me to make a decision.

Do I stop now and figure something out, leaving the car on stands for another months/years, or do I let it roll and have fun?

That being said, I probably wouldn't rebuild the Evo 5 block, I'd prefer to go another route, with an 8 block.

So, if you have any thoughts, feel free to shout them out?

The way I am feeling, I just want to let it roll and see how it does.

I also had a boost leak at the original 28 year old BOV hose, so I was rushed to figure something out there.

While replacing the fuel pump with a Walbro 255, I still cannot get the pump gasket to properly seal. There is a small hiss, when the tank builds pressure.

Sadly, I dropped the tank again to put in a new gasket and it still will not seal perfectly. I have tried 20 inch lbs, all the way up to about 55 inch lbs. No change, whatsoever.

That being said, "when" I drop the tank again, to solve the minor vapor issue, I will be flaring the hardlines, as I am sick of dropping this tank, over and over.

When I dropped the tank a second time, I noticed a blemish factory ridge on sealing side of the tank and really shouldn't have let it slide. My biggest regret this last week.

Well, that is the update. I am trying to fight through and have some fun with the Evo this year. Sometimes she goes and sometimes she doesn't. But, I am hoping she'll go this time around.
