I (31F, London) am feeling quite lost in my career and would really value some outside perspective.

For the past few years I’ve worked in sales/business development in plant-based foods, and now in sales for a sustainability company. I initially loved this path, but over time I’ve become more skeptical about parts of the sector, and I’m also unsure whether I want to stay in sales long-term (or move into sales management). What matters to me is a mix of purpose and earning potential, and I’m currently not that satisfied with either.

I’ve been considering a few different directions:

  1. Pivoting out of sales into a different type of role/industry
  2. Retraining - I’ve looked into qualifications with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers as I’m interested in shipping/commodities, but unsure about prospects and competitiveness
  3. Starting something of my own - I have ~£10k savings and had the idea of a seamless underwear brand, but no direct experience in this space

I also have some flexibility financially (I own a flat I could rent out), so I’m open to taking a bit of risk or studying again. Has anyone been in a similar position or have insight into these paths - especially moving out of sales or into shipping/commodities in your 30s?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
