Wanted to show off the best piece in my collection. While I focus on WWII collecting, this was too good to pass up. My local antique store had it but they weren’t able to identify it. The fellas over at r/AntiqueGuns helped me identify it as the M1842/51. This model in particular has the experimental elbow sights, of which only 1,000 were made. Online auctions price this thing at about $10,000. I got this for $700 since I figured it was best that I not tell the antique store what exactly they had.
It has the bayonet as well!
