Hi guys Im doing the UC San Diego explorer academy this summer (phase 2) and I was curious if anyone else on reddit has done it. I haven't seen a lot of input about it, which makes sense since its only meant for police explorers in law enforcement agencies. I was curious how being an explorer and going to Explorer academies looked for apps (im not doing for apps but was just curious since these programs are a bit niche).

Feel free to do some more research on explorer programs at your local police department, you should join too. Academies are great, it's my 3rd one. Ive done one with my sherrif's office too. How should I frame on apps

Hey I'm from CA and Im doing a State leadership seminar with HOBY. How does it look for apps + for alums how was it? Was the experience worth it? Overall I want to hear some more input about this as a lot of the posts i saw were from a decade go.

Lets bring some more recognition to these programs. Hoby does a national thing too but its mad expensive and the state one is a couple hundred bucks. Normally I totally avoid "pay to play" programs (haven't done a single one so far), but this one genuinely seems worth it and it's not a whole lot of money im forfeiting. $200-400 compared to thousands of dollars for summer programs.
