Consensus on equivalence of US/Canada training?
Complex question I know,
Just wondering as I am a dual US/Canadian citizen. I like to think I'm pragmatic in the sense that while I would ultimately prefer to work in Canada, some specialties are easier to get into in the US and vice versa.
We know about the ''common" specialties like nsgy and ortho that are not reciprocal between Canada to US. How about other surgical subspecialties like uro/ENT etc? Can you just equivalate or do a fellowship or become an academic?
How about medical specialties? For example, if I did heme or onc or resp in Canada how is the equivalency there in the US?
In the same vein, if you did something like rad onc in the US and want to come back to Canada how would that work with the extra year you need to train?
With the new changes being more favourable to US grads in Canada from multiple provinces I wanted to see if there was an update.
Is there a way to find this information other than word of mouth or sleuthing the internet
