Due to some mistranslation regarding the term which we identify with, the consensus on Mizo merely means "People of the Hills" to most non-Mizo. I think this needs to be cleared up.

Also, added that clarification on Mizo-Mizoram issue. I don't know why people keep calling Mizoram as Mizo as if its normal. Nobody calls Tamil Nadu as Tamil or Kashmir as Kashmiri.

As non-native speakers of the English language, us Mizo continue to interact with the outside world on an unprecedented level. These interactions often lead to questions and inquiry into our culture, traditions and identity. In this regard, what I have constantly noticed is that the concept of Tribe and Clan is often miscommunicated either because of the lack of understating regarding these terms or complete lack of knowledge. (For example - Someone calling Mizo a tribe and their tribe as a clan)

There was also a recent post that asked to clarify this. So I wanted to make this post to inform not only my fellow Mizo but also non-Mizo of the sub. (P.S - Lets normalize using the correct plural term of Mizo instead of Mizos)
