First thing's first, my build up until today was a Ryzen 5900X with 64GB of 3800 DDR4 RAM and a 3080 Ti.
I'm playing at 1440p or less and *mostly* high framerate competitive shooters.
The PC was struggling to hit higher FPS in games recently, notably after game updates the usual 300+ frames dropped to 250+ in my mainstay titles.
I upgraded my GPU to an Asus 5080 OC today as I got it below msrp and went about testing everything. Performance was **far worse** in almost every title I tested except for Hunt: Showdown, where the game ran with 160 avg. frames where I got 90-100 before upgrading. R6S, Overwatch, CS2 ran at around 300 fps each, now barely breaking 150-200.
I expected a bottleneck due to the CPU and am planning in upgrading as soon as RAM prices stop being a scam or I get a decent deal, but is it really such a big performance hit compared to the 3080Ti?
Or could it be a driver issue?
I've tried different game settings, limiting framerates, adjusting voltage and even changing cables/ports.
Am I overlooking anything? Or am I cooked into getting a new build?
