Its been a while so I figured it was time for an update
Championship belt - Hawthorn Hawks (4 defenses)
Fremantle entered the 2026 season as champions but dropped the belt to Geelong in round 1, the cats would keep the belt until the classic easter Monday clash where the hawks would steal the strap which they still hold after retaining in last night's draw to Collingwood.
Losers belt - Richmond Tigers (8 defenses) Adelaide Crows (0 defenses)
Richmond come into 2026 as champions and are undefeated when it comes to being defeated
Edit - i had the wrong losers champions for the start of the season so the wild ride i had thought happened was a lie all along
West Coast came into the season as the losers champion meaning WA started the season as double champions but a win against North Melbourne would see WA lose its champ champ status, North would only hold the belt for 1 week as the Bombers would next claim the title, in round 5 Melbourne surprised everyone when they took the crown, the next it got even more wild as the Lions would add another trophy to their cabinet, Brisbane decided the cabinet was too cluttered and gave the championship to the crows who will defend it tonight against Port.
For those unaware the belts are only active during the home and away season and are tracked over at r/AFLChampionshipBelt
