Career Shift from Design to Finance at 28. How Realistic Is It?

I come from a design background and I’m seriously considering switching my career to finance.

I have a B.Des degree and around 5 years of work experience in the design industry, mainly in branding and creative work. I’m currently 28 and feel like I want to move into a field with stronger long-term growth, financial knowledge, and better career opportunities.

I’ve been thinking about starting CFA preparation, but I’m honestly confused about how realistic this transition is for someone with a completely non-finance background.

How hard would this switch actually be?

Would companies even consider someone like me after CFA Level 1/2 without prior finance experience?

What roles should I realistically target initially?

And is 28 too late to pivot into finance?

Would really appreciate honest advice from people who’ve made a similar switch or work in the industry.
