Hi,
Which one is better? I am really keen into this stuff.
I am trying to americanize surname Domozhirov. Because it's difficult to pronounce/remember/understand.
It looks like slavinized Norsemen surname https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rus%27_people
The initial Rus’ version was Domazhir (without current Russian endings).
But I see the root of the word “Domaz” means “judgement” is Germanic from here https://www.reddit.com/r/UsefulCharts/comments/1saoz1b/etymology_of_the_uks_name/#lightbox
Initially in 12 century (ancient Rus’) the word “zhir” meant: "riches, abundance, excess, luxury." Now it means “fat tissue”.
“Dom” means “House”.
Now “House”+”well” -> “Housewell” sounds more beautiful, but the problem is - it’s too much pointing to the English origin.
Domaz sounds less beautiful, but could be pointing to Eastern Europe what is better for “trademark navigation”.
What do you think?
