Hi, I’d like to get some opinions on whether I have a strong case and if I handled this situation correctly.

I filed a motor car insurance claim with People’s General Insurance Corporation (PGIC) for my 2025 Toyota Innova due to damage from an incident that happened on April 20, 2025.

Timeline:
• October 20, 2025 – I formally filed the claim via email and submitted all required details and photos
• October 21–31, 2025 – PGIC asked for documents (OR/CR, license, police report/affidavit, etc.), which I completed and submitted
• November 3, 2025 – They acknowledged but asked again for documents that were already included in my submission
• November 2025 to February 2026 – No meaningful updates from them
• February 2026 – I followed up multiple times and only received vague responses like “for verification” with no timeline
• At one point, they even mixed up my claim with another vehicle (Chery Tiggo vs Toyota Innova), which I had to correct

Because of the delay, I sent a formal demand email on March 1, 2026 requesting a clear status and timeline.

Since there was still no proper resolution, I escalated the matter to the Insurance Commission for mediation.

During mediation:
• I attended the scheduled conference
• PGIC did NOT appear despite being notified
• The case proceeded ex parte due to their non-appearance

As of now, my claim has been pending for several months without a definite resolution.

My concern:
I understand insurance claims are not meant for profit, but the prolonged delay, lack of clear communication, and failure to attend mediation caused me inconvenience, wasted time, and additional effort just to pursue something that should have been processed normally.

Questions:
• Does this qualify as “unfair claim settlement practice”?
• Do I have a strong case based on this timeline?
• Did I handle the escalation correctly?
• Is there anything else I should have done differently?

Would really appreciate your insights. Thanks!
