I’m writing this as I feel like I’m living a fairy tale and I’m gaslighting myself that I will get into a U.S. Medical school. Recently graduated this past December with a B.S. in Psychology, ultimately I feel like I was crawling to the getting the diploma at a big university in my state. I’ve been premed for all of my college career always working in healthcare and I’m wondering if my chances are truly just a fantasy. Since I was mostly trying to finish my degree I failed organic chem and haven’t taken biochem or ochem 2 yet. Currently I’m doing post bacc at a local smaller university and this semester I’m 99.9% I’m getting an A in orgo finally and will be taking 9 credits this summer along with taking 12+ credits in the fall then take Ochem 2 in the spring along with other higher level sciences with all As so I can get my gpa up over 3.0. All of social media I’ve been seeing has been all “you can’t get in unless you do xyz”, and a lot of negativity about low stats not having the slimmest chances of even going in the pile of considerations. Note that I haven’t started studying or have taken the MCAT which is one of the biggest mysteries in my Stats so i know I won’t have an accurate answer until I take it. However I plan on taking it December 2026 and apply early 2027. Any advice (blunt or not) is appreciated.

Stats:

Gpa: 2.756 (2.84 after my A in Ochem is replaced)

Clinical Hours: ~3000 hours
*Certified Medical Assistant (urgent care mostly and in asthma/allergy)
*Nursing Assistant/Monitor Tech at a Cardiac Unit
*currently interviewing for an ER tech at my local hospital

Volunteering: ~90 hours
*helped pre-k kids learn about science
*animal shelter
*park clean ups
*local teen center hosting sports
