I have been summoned to court for not providing details of the driver of a vehicle I am the registered keeper of.
I got a letter through about a speeding offence and spoke to the driver at the time and they fully admit the offence and provided their details, conversation is on text massage as-well.
I provided their details on the form and posted this back to the police, then heard nothing back assuming the police would deal directly with the driver and they would just pay the fine, no big deal.
About 6 months later I received a letter telling me they had not received drivers details and I needed to plead guilty / not guilty. I pleaded NG online. But have been summoned to court, driver is willing to attend, my case is that I had no reason not to provide details, driver provided them to me and can show text messages. Is that the right thing to do?
