I just got accepted into the nursing program at my local community college. We wrote down our emails before we took the teas test because they were supposed to send our fingerprint information to get done through email for background clearance. Well in the beginning of April I told the coordinator I had not received the email yet and to ask to resend it. She did and I asked 5 days later if she did, just to confirm because I still had not received it. She said it takes a bit. So 2 weeks passed since it has been resent and I still had not received it (I also asked her to see which email I put down to make sure the school wasn’t blocking it, they weren’t). I email her again and she calls me panicked and tells me to call the board of nursing. After waiting on the call for an hour, I ask the person on the phone to resend my information because I had not received it and she repeats my email and it’s wrong… she says it takes 20 days to get reregistered and 20 days to get my background cleared.. my program starts June 1. I emailed the dean to see what can be done but all I’m told is that I may not be able to start the program even though it was their fault for putting in my email wrong… I already spent hundreds of dollars just trying to meet the deadlines to start the program. What can I do? Has this happened to anyone? I don’t want to wait another year..
