Hi everyone,

I’m currently considering buying a BMW CE 02 and would really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with it.

A bit about me:
I’m 40 years old and have never ridden a motorcycle before. I live in a city and my main use case would be commuting to work about 3 times a week (around 7 km one way).

One complication is charging. I don’t have easy access to a power outlet where the bike would be parked, so I would most likely need to remove the battery and charge it in my apartment. Charging at work might be possible in the future, but that’s still unclear at the moment (right now it’s more of a “where there’s no plaintiff, there’s no judge” situation).

The main reason I’m interested in the CE 02 is honestly the design – I really like it and haven’t found anything comparable so far.

Originally, I was thinking about getting the bigger (non-AM) version, but that would mean investing another ~900€ into a license, which I’ve been planning to do anyway for years.

Now I’ve found a local offer with the following specs:

  • AM version
  • First registration: 09/2024
  • Mileage: 50 km
  • Equipment: basically fully loaded (Highline)
  • Includes a second battery
  • Price: ~4,500€

This seems like a pretty good deal to me, but I’m unsure about a few things:

  • Is the AM version enough in the long run, or will I regret being limited to ~50 km/h?
  • Does it still feel “fun” with that limitation, especially after some time?
  • Given that the CE 02 is no longer configurable on BMW’s website and seems to be discontinued, would it make more sense to wait for a successor model (possibly with improved charging options)?

I’m not in a rush, so waiting would be an option – but I also don’t want to overthink it and miss a good deal.

Would really appreciate your thoughts, especially from people who chose either version or had a similar use case.

Thanks a lot!
